How to Set up Your Bunnies Area

Updated: Jun 15, 2022

Hopefully you find this information helpful as I have done a bit of research on keeping our furry family members happy! Most people when adding a new little one to their family is wanting to have it free roaming around their home such as a dog or cat does. This is great and I love the idea but having a designated spot for your bunny is also very important.

Bunnies love to explore and when they explore they usually are likely to find things to nibble on. This means proofing your area of wires, and tiny things such as toys and loose papers is important. I like to reccomend having maybe a room or area of the house dedicated to your bunny and when unsupervised have them contained in their area with food, water litter pan, and nibble toys.

Holland Lops are one of the easier breeds to litter train and therefore having a litterbox is a great idea and using bunny proof litter such as shavings or rabbit proof stuff from the petstore is a must. Durin the training process having their food/water near their liter box is a good idea!

An alternate way to house your bunny is in a large cage like setting with a very small wired bottom or a solid bottom. This cage can be in a shed/garage or shelter from weather elements outside. I like to use large dog crates as it seems to give them lots of room to jump around and stretch out. Keep in mind though if you plan to breed your doe rabbit, a dog kennel will NOT keep your babies contained and smaller wire is definitley needed.

If you have any further questions about your bunnies enclosure please don't be afraid to contact me with any questions!
